A degree in Communication will prepare you for a variety of roles including public relations, marketing , technical and journalism positions. Immerse yourself in writing, dance, music, screen production, management, games design or communication, and set yourself up for a career in the new media landscape.
This module will introduce students to the broad range of key concepts, debates and skills necessary to undertake further study in Media and Communication. The module traces the history of community arts and provides practical exercises on workshop skills to develop an understanding of the role of music technology in the local community.
Learners will fine-tune previously acquired skills and knowledge through a variety of assignments that include collaboration, information delivery formats and the nuances of communication styles and needs. This exploratory program prepares you for further study in creative and media arts by helping you identify your interests, passion and strengths.
The Arts and Communication Department sponsors academic courses and programs that help prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and for careers in art, communication, music and theatre. Electives can be selected from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or from other faculties within the university (subject to permission from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences).
