The MRes in Arts and Media is an exciting opportunity to experience research within the disciplines of art and design, performing arts and media. First year students explore the role of media and digital technology in contemporary culture and its implications for making art. The project-oriented minor in Practical Fields in the Arts presents the opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with contemporary forms of artistic practice and styles of thought in collaboration with well-known international artists.
You will have opportunities to be active in productions, publication, and exhibition development, as well as the opportunity to engage as an intern as you build skills for positions in the media industry. In fourth year, students learn how to establish artistic, conceptual, and technical style at a professional level, and undertake major research and media work that incorporates the tools, theory, and information acquired in previous courses.
This course prepares students for a wide range of roles in the media and cultural sectors. Recognise appropriate and inappropriate use of other people’s images and work in the making of media artworks. Students develop a creative media production portfolio throughout the major, culminating in the media arts project produced at the end of their studies.
The Bachelor of Media Arts and Production is a balanced, professionally oriented, program of practical production work integrated with analytical study. In Years 3 and 4, students’ awareness of themselves and others as audiences is extended beyond the classroom to the broader school context.
This Research Master’s programme in Media, Art & Performance Studies is an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research-based programme which offers an advanced training in academic research skills appropriate for today’s highly dynamic and interdisciplinary field of media, visual arts and performance.
