Creative Arts and Media offers Bachelor degrees in Design, Media Arts, Music Sound and Moving Image and Photography. Our aim is to equip you with lifelong learning skills that will position you as a leader in the rapidly-evolving communication and media industries and help you remain competitive throughout your career. Arranged for administrative and academic purposes into four divisions—Literature, Language Studies, Journalism/Media Studies and English for Academic Purposes—the School offers a wide range of courses in its various disciplines.
We are a leading innovator in the application of new media and communications technologies to the humanities. For purely practical purposes newspapers and other online news sources will be the focus of study, but we do also consider the significance of film and television, books comics and video games in the media crime debate.
They go on air with WMUL-FM , West Virginia’s first non-commercial, educational radio station, and then anchor with MU Report , the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s broadcast media group. You will cultivate insight unique to human beings and will be able to identify and explain interrelations among texts of apparently disparate discourses: literature, film and visual arts.
You will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of courses that focus on the social, cultural, historical, and economic contexts of media. His art has been shown on The Geraldo Rivera Show, CNN, Nature of The Arts BCAT and has appeared in the April 1999 issue of Nickelodeon Magazine.
You will have opportunities to be active in productions, publication, and exhibition development, as well as the opportunity to engage as an intern as you build skills for positions in the media industry. In fourth year, students learn how to establish artistic, conceptual, and technical style at a professional level, and undertake major research and media work that incorporates the tools, theory, and information acquired in previous courses.
